Ashton Kutcher: 4 Women In 4 Days!

milaash1_wide.jpg
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis may have just gone on a short trip together, but if the actress is smart she will be careful, as many claim Ashton's all too eager to move on from his split with Demi ? and on, and on, and on. ?Ashton is single and feels he can date as many women as he wants,? a friend of the 34-year-old explains to In Touch.

On one wild weekend, In Touch can exclusively report that the bawdy bachelor hooked up with not one, not two, not even three, but four hot girls! After a rebound romance with producer Lorene Scafaria and a sexy sleepover with Rihanna in March, Ashton arrived at a Passover bash at the Kabbalah Centre in New York on April 12 with another beauty on his arm. The next night, he was spotted seducing two young blondes at Mister H in the Big Apple?s Mondrian SoHo hotel.

Then, two days later, the star shared a sushi date with his former That ?70s Show co-star Mila Kunis at Asanebo in LA. ?Ashton was getting very touchy-feely with her,? a pal says. ?He was grabbing her hand the whole time.?

But while the other women were just one-night stands for the newly minted player, the pal swears that Mila is different. ?Ashton?s always had a crush on her,? the pal admits of the ex-castmates, who began working together on the hit sitcom as teens. ?But Mila had a serious boyfriend.? When Mila broke up with Macaulay Culkin ? and Ashton?s marriage crumbled ? Ashton told Mila that he was going through a tough time and needed a friend. Soon, the pair were talking regularly ? and while Ashton hopes to take things to the next level with Mila, the pal says right now men are not her priority.

Pegatron licenses Microsoft's patent portfolio for Android and Chrome devices

Microsoft may make a ton of money by selling Xboxes, operating systems, and other software to consumers , but it also pads its bottom line by monetizing its IP. Its newest patent profits will be coming from Pegatron Corp. -- a Taiwanese ODM that makes parts for a plethora of others, including Apple, ASUS and HP -- as the two companies have entered into a licensing agreement for devices running Android and Chrome OS. The agreement covers e-readers, smartphones and tablets, with Pegatron paying Redmond royalties of unknown amount. So, the Ballmer licensing bandwagon continues unabated, but we just hope all this new-found cash will be put to use creating fantastic new products instead of funding more courtroom conflicts.

Small variations in magnetic fields can be environmental stresses

ScienceDaily (Apr. 23, 2012) ? We are surrounded by a constantly changing magnetic field, be it Earth's or those emanating from devices, such as cell phones. Carlos Martino, an assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, is interested in understanding how these magnetic-field fluctuations change biochemical reactions inside us.

Martino explains that the subject is controversial. "Our research shows that exposure to different types of magnetic fields affect biological response," he says. "More importantly, the exposure levels are well below the standard levels" approved by the World Health Organization. "This raises the concern of safety issues," he adds. Martino presented some of his work at the Experimental Biology 2012 meeting in San Diego, California on April 23.

Magnetic fields come in different types. There are static fields, like those around permanent magnets. Earth's magnetic field is quasi-static, which means it can fluctuate slightly. Then there are radiofrequency magnetic fields, which may change both in intensity and frequency.

Martino's work concerns low-level static magnetic fields, which are one to two orders of magnitude weaker than Earth's field, as well as weak radiofrequency magnetic fields. Martino gives the example of cell phones, which give off very weak magnetic fields. There is debate whether these magnetic fields cause brain tumors in cell-phone users.

Martino says his work on low-level fields and radiofrequency magnetic fields raises "the question of reassessing the standard limit of exposure because we clearly see effects both in vitro and in vivo in the low level and radiofrequency magnetic field range."

But it's not all doom and gloom. In fact, by understanding how weak magnetic fields affect cancer cell processes and tumor growth, Martino sees the potential for a therapy based on weak radiofrequency fields.

He explains his group has recently shown that the reduction of Earth's magnetic field inhibits growth rates of cancerous lung fibrosarcoma cells, colorectal cancer cells and primary endothelial cells. He adds that low-level fields may modulate the production of reactive oxygen molecules, known to affect cellular proliferation and survival. Interestingly, Martino says pancreatic cancer cells show an increase in growth rate in the same low magnetic fields, indicating different cell types react differently to changes in magnetic fields.

Martino has extended his work beyond cell cultures to animal models. For instance, his group has shown that weak radiofrequency magnetic fields inhibit tumor growth in animal models. But in all of his work, Martino says, his group is aiming to get to the bottom of the molecular mechanisms that cause different cells to react in various ways to fluctuations in static and alternating magnetic fields.

Jon Lovitz on Obama: What a F*%king A$$hole!

Jon Lovitz is apparently not a fan of President Obama.

The former Saturday Night Live star didn't exactly go Ted Nugent on Barack, but he did make some strong feelings known on his recent podcast, "The ABC's Of SNL."

In a clip first highlighted by Breitbart TV, Lovitz jokes that Obama is "a f--king a$$hole" for "saying the rich don't pay their taxes." Tell us how you really feel, Jon!

The comedian went on to explain that Obama "is the perfect example" of what can go wrong with government: "He's amazing. He had nothing. He had no father."

"He was, you know, of mixed race which is a burden in the United, don't kid yourself, you know, growing up like that, and no money, and the guy ends up being at Harvard."

"He's the President of the United States. And now he's like, fuck me!"

"If I make a dollar and out of every dollar I'm taxed at 50, half, at 50 cents, I have to give, isn't that like enough?" asked Lovitz. He continued, "It's half. HALF?!"

It's unclear whether Lovitz's comments were sincere or in jest ... or a little of both. The rant occurred this January, though the podcast itself was just released.

Victoria Jackson is perhaps the President's most outspoken critic among SNL alumni, often calling Obama a communist. Yeah. Nothing in jest about that.

Record Store Day: earth's vinyl days

On?April 21,?the fifth annual?Record Store Day?will get off to a rockin' start when doors open in about 1,000 record stores in some 20 countries.

You remember records, right? Not only are the big 12-inch albums and 7-inch 45s still among us, but so are their landlords, old-fashioned independent record stores, which celebrate their own special day every spring. On April 21, the fifth annual Record Store Day will get off to a rockin' start when doors open in about 1,000 record stores in some 20 countries.

From Tulsa to Tokyo, San Diego to Sydney, the gritty neighborhood purveyors of the petroleum platter will party with contests, free giveaways, in-store performances by local faves and big stars, and exclusive limited-edition 45 and LP releases. Among those are new singles by Coldplay, Florence + the Machine, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire, comedian Jimmy Fallon, and many more. Exclusive Record Store Day LPs will include new 12-inch vinyl pressings from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and The Black Keys, and rarities from jazz icons Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck.

Billboard magazine attributed a seismic 182,000 unit sales to last April's Record Store Day. Rocker Jack White exhorts the rock troops to "show respect for the tangible music that you've dedicated your careers and lives to, and help It from becoming nothing more than disposable digital data."

And speaking of analog, music producer Gary Calamar and Billboard writer Phil Gallo have penned a 240-page companion piece to the annual event, Record Store Days: From Vinyl to Digital and Back Again. It combines a timeline of the evolution of recording media ? from Edison's wax cylinders to today's MP3 files ? with affectionate portraits and reminiscences of America's iconic record shops and chains, some now defunct, some just plain funky. We meet up in the listening booth at Hollywood's long-gone Wallich's Music City to spin the latest from Nat King Cole and Elvis Presley before skipping a half century ahead to pack in like sardines with adoring fans at an in-store performance by Sir Paul McCartney at Amoeba Music, the largest record store in the world. (It's also known as "Godzilla" by the scores of indie record stores it has driven out of business.)

Dusty Groove of Chicago, Denver's Twist & Shout, Grimey's of Nashville, and Minneapolis's Electric Fetus won't hold out forever. Make a pilgrimage April 21 and pay your respects. To locate an indie record store near you, go to www.recordstoreday.com/Venues.

Fifth Avenue Frogger brings everyone's favorite roadkill to New York City (video)

Image

For all their charm, the arcade games of the 80s didn't really offer much in the way of gritty realism -- not like today's titles, certainly. Tyler DeAngelo's new take on video game hall-of-famer Frogger certainly goes a ways toward lending the gaming classic some grit. DeAngelo installed a webcam trained on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, using code to translate that footage into data that allows players to experience a real-time, real world traffic flow in a modded version of a Frogger machine. The creator has been known to drag the machine onto the famed New York street, generator in tow, letting people experience the game it was meant to be played: on a sidewalk in plain view of traffic. Check out a video of the game after the break, including a desperate plea from a talking frog who really wants a trip to the Smithsonian.

'Catching Fire': Five Reasons To Be Stoked

In light of all the director drama, Hobnobbing has a few reminders why we should celebrate the sequel.
By Amy Wilkinson

It's been a fraught few weeks following director Gary Ross' announcement that he wouldn't helm "The Hunger Games" follow-up "Catching Fire." Panem watchers are rightfully peeved: In Ross, fans found a kindred spirit, one who always seemed a devotee first and a director second.

As the rumor mill continues to rage regarding who will fill his sizable shoes (reports indicate Francis Lawrence and Bennett Miller are the top two candidates), now seemed as good a time as any to remind ourselves that despite the director drama, there's plenty to look forward to in "Catching Fire."

Here are five reasons we should all be celebrating.

It's Actually Being Made
Obvious, sure, but remember when a sequel wasn't a foregone conclusion? When Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said the first installment had to hit $100 million domestically in order to justify sequels (which it did handily)? We're lucky to have at least two — if not three — more films on the horizon. Just think how "John Carter" fans feel right now ...

Gary Ross Set Up the Series Well
No sloppy seconds here. Ross' successor will have to bring his A-game to "Catching Fire," considering the bar Ross set. Here's hoping he is up for the challenge.

Either Director Will Excel
Speaking of a challenge, if the rumored director shortlist of Lawrence ("Water for Elephants") and Miller ("Moneyball") is accurate, the series will be in safe and sound hands. My colleague, Kevin P. Sullivan, already examined the candidates' respective CVs in length, but suffice it to say, both directors will bring their respective strengths to the Games.

Fresh Faces Will Abound
Once a director is in place, casting can begin in earnest for the bevy of new characters in "Catching Fire." Whether you're dying to drool over dreamy District 4 tribute Finnick Odair or can't wait to see who struts as Johanna Mason, there will be a whole new slew of casting announcements to await. And, of course, we'll be speculating endlessly until the reaping is complete.

We'll Enter a Whole New Arena
In addition to the tribute parade, fans will devour an entirely new Games thanks to the jungle-like setting of the Quarter Quell. Remember how cool it was to see the arena for the first time in "The Hunger Games"? Well, prepare for that feeling again! Beyond that, it will be intriguing to see how a new director handles the aesthetics of Katniss' dystopian world. Let "Catching Fire" blaze!

What about "Catching Fire" has you stoked? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me @amymwilk with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

Around 140,000 Apple machines still infected with Flashback malware, says Symantec

By now, we're all quite familiar with the Java-driven trojan that's affected thousands of Apple's rigs, and while the numbers seem to have drastically dropped since the first Cupertino fix, there's still a plethora of machines carrying the bug. According to Symantec, the number of infected computers is now at around 140,000, seeing a decline of over 460,000 since April 9th. Still, the security outfit remains puzzled by the fact, as it expected the digits to be somewhere near the 99,000 mark by now. Perhaps this is due to some folks not even being aware of Flashback's existence, or maybe not checking for software updates as often as most of us. Either way, we hope you've already used one of the tools Apple handed you.

Tiesto, Axwell, Steve Aoki 'Extremely Excited' For Electric Zoo Festival

'There is nothing like playing to a New York EDM crowd,' Aoki says of annual fest held on city's Randall's Island.

Electric Zoo Festival, Made Event's fourth annual EDM get-together, will be hitting New York's Randall's Island again come Labor Day weekend. It's estimated that nearly 85,000 fans attended last year's three-day affair. And while fans eagerly await the chance to catch some of the biggest names in dance music performing just off of New York's East River, MTV News was tickled to learn that some of the stars slated to perform are just as pumped about playing to their fans in the Big Apple.

"I love the New York crowd," returning performer and Swedish House Mafia member Axwell revealed. "And I haven't done a big festival there since I last did Electric Zoo. So I can't wait to come back!"

"It is an awesome festival in one of the most incredible settings in the world," Dutch EDM icon Tiësto explained. "How often do you get to play with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop? It is a special experience, being in the middle of a city with such a huge, energetic crowd. If you'd told me this would be possible 10 years ago, I wouldn't have believed you."

Cakes and boats are also bound to bless Electric Zoo this year as on Saturday, September 1, EZ's Riverside tent is set to go Dim Mak.

"This year, I have my own curated Dim Mak stage at Electric Zoo," Steve Aoki explained. "This is important because EZ represents the New York dance scene and community and it is one of the best communities in America. I'm extremely excited about this. There is nothing like playing to a New York EDM crowd. They are amazing!"

Flux Pavilion & Doctor P, Zeds Dead, Above & Beyond, David Guetta, Dada Life, Knife Party, Sander Van Doorn, Porter Robinson, Benny Benassi, Nicky Romero, Bloody Beetroots, Wolfgang Gartner and Luciano are but a few of the 65 artists performing at this year's Electric Zoo as of press time (the final count may be different). The festival runs from August 31 to September 2; general admission, VIP and Platinum three-days passes (priced at $299, $649 and $1199, respectively) are available at Made Event's website.

British rockers Radiohead and folk band Bon Iver got thousands of fans dancing on day two of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and warm, blue skies chased away the cold and rain in time for Sunday's big closing act - Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Buzz was running high ahead of the rap duo's headlining appearance, with rumours rife about potential surprise guests, as well as a hologram resurrecting late rappers Tupac Shakur and Nate Dogg, that are thought to be joining the pair for their hit, California Love.

Sunday's line-up also features Gotye, Florence and the Machine, Calvin Harris, DJ Shadow and Avicii.

On a day of comebacks and surprises on Saturday, Usher turned up unannounced, jumping on stage in the dance tent with French DJ David Guetta to perform their single Without You.

Guetta told Reuters before his set that he was curious to see reactions this year given the explosion of electronic dance music into the mainstream music scene.

"I'm very happy to play the dance tent. I'm going to play a lot of music, because when I play main stage, I have to play all my big hits. But I'm going to take this opportunity, I have so much new music," said Guetta.

British rock band Radiohead made their return to Coachella after performing in 2004, kicking off with Bloom, before picking up the pace with 15 Step. Lead singer Thom Yorke shyly introduced the band before launching into a piano-led rendition of The Daily Mail, putting a spotlight on his voice.

Some of the crowd initially dubbed them Radiodead after the opening set list included few of their biggest hits. But the band got the crowd dancing in the second half with hits such as Karma Police, Lotus Flower and Reckoner, and played out with a two-part encore.

Wisconsin band Bon Iver, winner of the best new artist Grammy award this year, saw lead singer Justin Vernon spruced up with a clean shave and a faux-hawk hairstyle for the occasion. He opened with Perth and Minnesota, WI before launching into the mystical melody of Holocene, which reverberated around the polo fields under a starry night sky.

BELIEVING THE HYPE

Earlier on Saturday, New Mexico quintet The Shins made their Coachella debut on the main stage to liven up the crowds as the sun went down over the fields, with a cool evening breeze spreading the chill in the desert.

They played new hits such as Simple Song, older classics such as So Says I, and a cover of Pink Floyd's Breathe, and lead singer James Mercer joked that he "finally believed the hype" of being on the Coachella stage.

As the temperatures dropped in the evening, thousands flocked to the Sahara dance tent, where Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia started a rave with a thumping set of hits, including new song Calling (Lose My Mind), featuring One Republic's Ryan Tedder.

For crowds looking for a break from the dance-heavy beats of the Sahara tent, musician Jeff Mangum's melodic set at sunset on the outdoor stage proved to be a popular choice, while Seattle's indie folk band The Head and The Heart graced the Mojave tent with songs such as Down in the Valley.

Saturday's highlights also included newcomer Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover of TV series Community, who was joined on the main stage by Danny Brown and Kendrick Lamar.

Rising star Azealia Banks, a rapper from Brooklyn, New York, broke out into renditions of Amy Winehouse's hit Valerie and Prodigy's Firestarter at the Gobi tent, while indie rock band Awolnation were joined by Macy Gray on their single Sail, - a deafening collaboration between the two singers' unique voices.

Brit-rock band Kaiser Chiefs riled up the crowds with their classics such as Ruby and I Predict a Riot, while former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher, who performed with his new band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, had the whole field singing along to a rendition of one of Oasis' biggest hits Don't Look Back in Anger.
